Sue has over 30 years of experience working with students and families in both clinical and educational settings.

After receiving her master’s degree in the diagnosis and treatment of learning disabilities at Northwestern University, she joined the staff of a multi-disciplinary clinic in Portland where she evaluated student learning, developed appropriate support plans, consulted with parents and teachers, and worked with students on an on-going basis to build skills and learning strategies.

After many years in clinical work, Sue joined the faculty at Catlin Gabel School as a learning specialist where she and fellow colleagues built a part-time Learning Center into a full-time program that addresses the needs of students from pre-school through high school.

Now in private practice as a Learning Specialist, Sue plays an active role in the evaluation, support, and case management of each of her clients, including collaboration with parents, teachers and allied professionals.

She addresses both the academic and social-emotional aspects of learning issues. Sue has extensive training in formal and informal assessments, as well as the development and implementation of appropriate instructional approaches for learning challenges. Her goal is to provide individualized instruction to meet the needs of each student, while helping them to develop an awareness of their strengths and how to utilize them to their advantage. Sue holds a current Oregon Teaching License with endorsements in Standard Elementary (preprimary through Grade 9) and Exceptional Learner.
